MNRB 2009 Scholarship Awards

FIELDS OF STUDY

• Actuarial Science (local and overseas)                         • Risk Management (local and overseas)
• Insurance (local)






VALUE OF AWARD
  • Tuition fees based on actual for students pursuing studies at public universities or colleges and
    a maximum of RM8,000.00 per annum for students pursuing studies at private universities or
    colleges. The actual tuition fees are paid for overseas studies.
  • Allowance of RM8,000.00 per year for local Matriculation/Foundation or Diploma courses and
    RM10,000.00 per year for First Degree or Professional courses. For overseas studies, adequate
    living and relocation allowances will be given.

A bonding period is attached to the scholarship, where the recipient may be required to serve the MNRB Group or any of the companies designated by the Trustees of the MNRB Scholarship Fund.







SELECTION CRITERIA

The applicant: -
  • Should be below 23 years of age.
  • Should have obtained at least grade 2A in a minimum of 6 subjects inclusive of English, Mathematics and Science in the SPM examination results; OR
  • Should obtained at least 3As and pass the General Paper at the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examination; OR
  • Should obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.5 for Diploma or Matriculation
  • Must have proof of financial needs.
  • Must write a short 1page essay (in English and on a separate sheet of paper) describing reasons for applying the scholarship, benefit from the course of study including education and career plans.
  • Preference will be given to those active in co-curricular activities.
  • Must not be a recipient of a scholarship/loan/financial assistance from any other organisation.
  • Employees working in the local insurance industry or their children are encouraged to apply.

The offer is subject to the applicants gaining entry into the recognised local institute of higher learning to pursue the approved courses.







TRIAL SPM/STPM RESULTS

Candidates with TRIAL SPM/STPM RESULTS, who meet the above mentioned selection criteria are also encouraged to apply for the scholarship. Selected candidates will be given provisional offer of the scholarship to pursue the approved courses subject to the variance between the actual results and the trial results being within acceptable range.

  • Request for the form by sending in a 16 cm x 23cm self-addressed envelope affixed with a 50 sen stampto the MNRB SCHOLARSHIP FUND at the address below; OR

  6. Institute and programme must be recognized by JPA (Malaysian Public Service Department) and MQA (Malaysian Qualification Agency).
  7. All courses must be undertaken and completed in IPTA (Institut Pengajian Tinggi Awam)a.k.a. Malaysian Public Universities.
  8. Qualified students from Hulu Selangor and Gombak districts in Selangor are encouraged to apply.

ABOUT KLK SCHOLARSHIPS
KLK has established a foundation, (Yayasan KLK), which offers scholarships to deserving undergraduates from the lower income group pursuing a diploma or degree course at any local government universities.
Upon graduation, candidates may be offered positions suitable to their course of study within the KLK Group of Companies.

Successful applicants are provided with annual grant over the minimum duration of their courses as follows:
Degree - RM 7,000 per academic year
Diploma - RM 5,000 per academic year

Eligibility Criteria


  1. Open to all qualified Malaysian citizens who have gained admission to recognised local government universities/institutions of higher learning including employee's children of the KLK Group of Companies.


  2. Free from any bond and not holding scholarship or receiving any financial assistance from other organizations.


  3. Willing to serve a bonded period of two years for Diploma courses and three years for Degree courses from the date of appointment.


  4. Adhere always to the rules and regulations of Yayasan KLK.
